What is wellbeingPLUS?

wellbeingPLUS/visionPLUS is a joint service supporting Deaf people who also have sight loss or who need extra wellbeing support. We help individuals feel less isolated, more independent, and better connected through emotional, social and practical support.

Health and Wellbeing projects provide a range of activities and workshops for deaf and hard of hearing people, bringing deaf and hard of hearing people together across communities to reduce isolation and improve their wellbeing.

Equipment

Equipment to support independent living

Equipment demonstrations – an opportunity to test and try specialised equipment for deaf and hard of hearing people including amplified telephones, doorbells or loops. deafPLUS makes referrals to adult social services equipment officer who can assess clients against an eligibility criterion for loan equipment.

deafPLUS can provide an equipment assessment, installation service for Deaf and hard of hearing people. 

The equipment we supply includes: 

•           TV Listening systems 

•           Alerting devices 

•           Personal listening devices 

•           Telephone 

•           Telephone amplifiers

•           Flashing and vibrating smoke alarms  

•           Batteries and tubing

Deafblind and visually impaired Equipment: such as mobility canes, lighting, talking clocks etc. including funded or partly funded equipment.

​

visionPLUS signpost to relevant health services and social/rehabilitation services.

Social

Enjoying life with social activities

deafPLUS offer various groups that support our clients and help to reduce social isolation, including tinnitus support group, hard of hearing group, and a British Sign Language (BSL) practice group.

​Health, wellbeing and social – providing a range of activities, workshops, training and courses for clients, families and health professionals to improve access and prevent social isolation for deaf and hard of hearing adults.

VisionPLUS

Offering support for hearing and sight loss

deafPLUS in Bath and North-East Somerset, also known as visionPLUS, offer a range of services for people with both hearing loss and sight loss, and our service provided is tailored to our individual client.  Some of the services for those with sight loss we provide are:

  • Information, advice & guidance about living with sight loss,

  • Benefits Advice: including form filling, attendance at medical assessments, dealing with reconsiderations and appeals and attendance at Tribunals, and

  • Signposting to relevant health services and social/rehabilitation services

Personal Assistance

MAS

The Mobile Advisory Service 

The Mobile Advisory Service (MAS) is a vehicle that goes around the county of Somerset raising awareness, give equipment demonstrations, and provide information on deafness and Deaf issues.

​

We are currently running the drop in venues on an appointment only basis.

​
