Our work tackles health inequalities and social isolation amongst D/deaf and hard of hearing people by providing lipreading classes, accessible mental health workshops, health activities and provides free Deaf Awareness Training to GPs and health professionals to crucially improve access for deaf people.
Working in partnership with Compass Wellbeing they will provide accessible Mental Health workshops in BSL by qualified practitioners.
Activities are delivered from deafPLUS’ large training room in Whitechapel which holds up to 50 people such as:
- Lipreading classes
- Deaf Awareness Training
- Family half term activities
- Carers Conference
The remaining activities will be delivered from:
- Mental Health Workshops: Compass Wellbeing
- Walking tours: On location e.g. Jack the Ripper tour
- Deaf Awareness Training: They can be delivered at GP clinics or similar
