deafPLUS is a charity working to encourage integration and equality between D/deaf and hearing people in all areas of life. We provide a range of services from Advocacy to Employment, equipment to information and advice across 7 centres around the UK.
We have an exciting position, recruiting a Senior Information & Advice Caseworker for our BSL Advice helpline.
In 2015, with support from the Money Advice Trust we launched the first ever national BSL Video Advice Helpline – providing Deaf BSL users all over the country with information and advice direct in their first language. We help clients with a range of issues like benefits and housing, debt and financial advice, Rights advocacy and how to access external services.
Our helpline enables Deaf BSL users to talk ‘face-to-face’ with a trained adviser, without the need for an interpreter, using an online video platform they are already familiar with such as Skype/ Facetime.
Due to increased demand for our helpline services, deafPLUS have ambitious plans to grow the helpline so you will be entering at an exciting time during the organisations transformation.
The role will support d/Deaf people, by providing accessible information, Advice and Casework on welfare benefits and all aspects of social welfare law and signposting, support service users to access their rights and welfare benefit entitlements, financial matters and debt.
Outside of the call, the postholder will conduct offline casework by working with external organisations and companies to resolve client cases forward on their behalf.
